My magical night with Depeche Mode….

Well I am quite tired this morning and my throat I don’t doubt is a little scratchy!I had the loveliest surprise yesterday! A gentleman who I had met last year found himself in my neck of the woods yesterday and came to see me for a couple of hours.

Half way through our naughty time together he told me he had a little surprise for me and he produced tickets for the Depeche Mode concert at Leeds Arena!

I should imagine my face was a picture..I have only met this chap 2 times and it was such an amazing and generous thing to do for me.

Cue me frantically figuring out what to wear and getting ready! Mr N picked me up at 7:15 and we made our way over. Although I live in Leeds I hadn’t got round to seeing the new Arena. It looks fabulous, all lit up like a Christmas tree. First things first though…we needed energy..so over the road to grab a subway..I was so excited though I could only eat half!

Back over to the arena and drinks bought at the bar we made our way to our seats, the design of the arena ensures you get a pretty good view from anywhere you sit.

The support act was pretty good The Jezabels..but I was chomping at the bit for my boys!

Cue a quick loo break and a refill of beer and the lights went out…I could feel my heart thumping….Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh DEPECHE MODE IN THE FLESH!

Oh my god the lights, the throbbing of bass, the screams of thousands of people, the frenzy of sweat whipped up by passionate rocking out…Dave Gahan..beautiful absolutely beautiful…they did a few songs I am not so familiar with but I could have had them on mute just to watch them!

About an hour in the band went off for a well earned break leaving Martin Gore on stage with a pianist..this was mesmerising as he sang solo to an enraptured audience..simple, clean and pure. It was a hairs on the back of the neck moment!.

The band came back on and this is where I got to my feet and cheered until my throat was raw…Enjoy the silence…nothing can beat the thrill of your ‘tribe’ singing along to it..same applied to ‘Personal Jesus’ and ‘Can’t get enough.’

I was dancing so hard my companion had to take my camera phone from me to film it lol.Playing it back this morning I can clearly be heard singing ‘Reach out and touch me’ mantra stylee!!

God bless em..they played for around 2 hours. Dave was a legend and so gorgeous, his voice is utter rock god material so into it is he that you could have wrung him out afterwards although I would have happily mopped his brow for him and any other sweaty body parts!

I just want to say a big thankyou to Mr A..you know who you are!The oldest swinger in town..good on you! Now who next??? U2, Stereophonics,Prince,Duran Duran???

And left over subway for supper…get in!! x
